Maris Cove, a delightful haven of beach and ocean. A group of (sometimes)
friendly neighbors. The ideal place for you to buy a home or spend your next
vacation. If, that is, you don't mind a threat of murder.
Pat and Phillis solved a murder in THE BODIES OUT BACK. This time, they race to
prevent a murder.
"That damned sound again," Phillis said to herself as she got to her feet and
brushed off the beach sand. Aloud, she shouted, "O.K., whoever you are, get out
here. Let me see you." She waited. No movement, no sound from the dunes.
Then...something seemed to be taking shape in the fog,. "Who? Oh, it's you,"
she said and heaved a sigh of relief. "You frightened me for a moment. Thought
it was someone who shouldn't have been there. Heading back to the Cove?"
Next time you head for the beach to do a bit of sunning, you better not take
this book with you. It might change your whole idea about such a beautiful
place.

Murder in Maris Cove
Once again, Joe Wright has written a top-notch mystery novel. He is a
terrifically talented writer who can write a multi-character mystery novel and
juggle them all like a master. He expertly creates full-bodied, extremely
interesting characters and then weaves them in and out of the storyline like a
master chess player.
Mr. Wright also has a knack for writing humorous dialogue. Just when the
tension gets to be too much, Mr. Wright has one of the characters utter a line
or a word that makes the reader laugh and breaks the tension…but only for a
moment. The story is so good that no reader will want to put it down for very
long.

MURDER IN MARIS COVE is a good follow-up to the first book in the series, "The
Bodies Out Back." Author Wright has set up a classic cozy, with an isolated
setting, quirky residents, an aloof servant, and a very deserving murder
victim. While events unfold (and the author rolls out revelations at a pleasing
clip), the reader is treated to odd details (the estate was originally financed
by a fortune in the asparagus business), clever dialogue (". . .Phyllis
wondered where Alyce, the adept physician, kept the scalpel she used to remove
Adam's testicles"), and an engaging, endearing relationship between the two
lead characters.
The author has a superior grasp of charming, witty dialogue that also moves the
plot. His sense of detail helps avoid cliché and caricature, difficult in a
genre that focuses on death among the rich and silly. I thoroughly enjoyed this
book.

Round Table Reviews
Murder In Maris Cove is a wonderful mystery. Author Joseph Wright takes us
on a wonderful journey throughout the whole story, showing the readers the
clues as they are found, telling us the fact finding progress of the
characters and the sorting out of clues; allowing the reader to become an
amateur sleuth themselves.

About the Author of
The Bodies Out Back,
Murder in Maris Cove
and Aisle of the Dead
Joseph E. Wright was born and educated in New England. He grew up addicted to the British cozies of Christie and Sayres and the American counterparts of Queen and Stout. He was a fan of the film noir of Hammett and Chandler.
His first published novel, Memorandum of a Murder (Manor Books) confirmed his determination to become a writer. A short story of his appeared in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine.
While trying to write, Joe earned his living in more mundane ways: as a life insurance underwriter, and as an editor for a monthly business magazine. In one period of his life, Joe lived in a gloomy, rambling, nineteenth century rectory in downtown Philadelphia. The dark paneled walls, the wide staircase, the sounds in the night, the people who wandered in and out, inspired his Tales from the Wrecktory.
