A Gourmet Meal
These two authors turn out to be master chefs. Try this: take a leg of science fiction and marinate it in a light, sweet romantic wine. Rub it with a little spice of mild erotica. Bake it over the hot fire of nonstop action until the adventure splits the meat with a bone-shattering finale.
That's not the best part. These ladies serve the dish with a sweet sauce made from a dry but humorous port. It was my favorite part because it adds a subtlety to the entrée. The humor is dry, subtle and has you laughing uncontrollably.
A Love Story with a Twist
This is a love story, pure and simple. Boy meets girl. They fall in love. Fate steps in and makes it difficult. You wonder right up to the last whether love will triumph. Standard romance, right? Wrong. There's a twist. In this book, the boy is an alien warrior from the planet Potenzia. He looks deep into the eyes of his beloved Earthling female and whispers softly, "I own you."
There's a myriad of bad people. The hero's leader displays the moral values of one of our former Presidents at an intern convention. There is a race of aliens who claim to have staked prior claim to Earth. Then, there's the group of white supremacists that see mass migration to another galaxy as an answer to their prayers.
This is really an updated story of Cinderella. The pumpkin turns into an intergalactic battle cruiser. The wicked stepmother is an Admiral. The mice don't turn into white horses; they just wear white sheets and burn crosses. And at the stroke of midnight? You're treated to a battle scene that only George Lucas could capture on film.
Should You Read Beyond the Horizon?
If you want a riveting, fast read that will keep you on the edge of your seat, you've found your book.
I warn you. Once you've tasted the dish these talented cooks have prepared for you, it's addictive. You'll want seconds and thirds. Fortunately, we are in luck. This is the first book in a trilogy.
There is a bit of erotica. It is tastefully done and is sans body parts, but it is directed to an adult audience. I rate it between PG and R.
I am an avid reader, but I didn't read science fiction except to while the time away as the dentist drills into my teeth. I have read romantic stories in women's magazines on long flights. But the fact that every other magazine was written in Russian, Slav, or Swahili may have had some influence.
Now I am a changed man. I will read Science Fiction willingly. I look forward to more romantic tales. My only stipulation is that Lee and Bonias write them.

I have always been intrigued on
how two people can write a story so
seamlessly. From scene to scene, there is no change in style and the flow is
continuous, from start to finish. The story does not insult your
intelligence... and the romantic portions are
done with a grace all onto their own, neither shocking you, or leaving you
wanting.
This is the second story that I
have reviewed for these ladies and
they continue to impress me. This story, like the first I read, is a high
quality
read and highly recommended for those who enjoy a down to earth SF
rolled into a romantic tale.
I give it four stars +. A must for your bookshelf.

The Riley Chronicles
Though Beyond the Horizon starts off a little slowly, it soon
picks up the pace, drawing you into the story of an alien who
comes to earth to take a million people to another planet to
start a new world, and also of the human who gets caught up in
this by mistake.
Rahul, an alien warrior, and Jade, a news reporter covering this
story by accident, meet and become romantically involved when
Rahul, of the Pontenz aliens, tells her to inform the earth
people that they will come either willingly or by force. But
their love is threatened, as are their very lives by another
race of aliens called the Garvoks.
Beyond the Horizon is a science fiction romance set on Earth
and on an alien spaceship where Jade and Rahul first meet and
fall in love. Rahul brings to mind Captain Kirk of Star Trek as
he has some of the same strength of character and wisdom when
dealing with other races of aliens.
This is a book with a different twist. The reader will have a
hard time putting it down until the last page has been read.
The very able authors, D. Lee and Kammy Bonias have crossed
genre lines and produced a very well written, interesting story.
I would recommend this great book to readers who enjoy a little
different reading, some who have read either scifi or romance,
but not both, will enjoy this also.

Vincent McBride is handsome, immortal and the owner of a secluded resort. He's blessed with the company of two ghouls, Jeff and Sarah, to whom he granted immortality over forty years ago in exchange for their eternal loyalty and service. But even the company of Jeff and Sarah can't fill the void Vincent feels. He's incredibly lonely and in need of a mate. Sarah senses his needs and sets out to do what she can to help. When Vincent informs her of his need for an attorney, Sarah seizes the opportunity to play matchmaker of sorts. She arranges three interviews with beautiful, prominent female attorneys.
Vincent is instantly drawn to the last of the three attorneys, Marilyn Thompson. She's a city girl, attractive, intelligent, and strong, everything he could want in a mate. But will she be willing to leave her ordinary life to share eternity with him? Despite his overwhelming need for her, Vincent refuses to allow himself to bring her into his world without her consent. He! must tell her that he's a vampire and all that it entails. As they grow closer, he attempts to prepare Marilyn for the truth and his offer. But before he has a chance to completely explain himself to her, he discovers his resort and the lives of himself and everyone around him is in danger. A group of Shadow Stalkers is traveling around killing off vampires and ghouls and their next stop is Vincent's resort.
PARADISE SHATTERED is packed with action, intensity, violence, and romance. Authors D. Lee and Kammy Bonias have created a cast of characters who are well explored, interesting and as true to life as a vampire or ghoul could be. The detailed description of each scene makes the reader feel as if they are truly a part of each scene.
The graphic violence depicted is not for one with a weak stomach. And strong sexual content is present, making this novel not suitable for everyone. But vampire lovers and lovers of action and suspense will definitely enjoy PARADISE SHATTERED.
