Reader Review for Shrouded Destiny
submitted by Jim Robbins
This wonderful novel is both
fun and enriching. Richard William Bates gives us fascinating characters,
people we can care about. Don’t even try to guess in which direction the plot
is heading. The surprises are non-stop. Try to recall your favorite teachers.
If your experiences are like mine, they were the ones that made learning fun.
Serious issues were dealt with in imaginative ways.
Shrouded Destiny
does more than make you think, it makes you want to think.
It is a story about evil, about
courage, about love, about liberty. There is humor when you least expect it. I
have always been intrigued by the ability of a good author to consistently
maintain drama. Bates does it with fast paced sequences and great imagination.
Prior to reading
Shrouded Destiny
, I did not conceive that an author could make a Senate filibuster exciting.
You must read the book if for no other reason than to see how Bates pulls this
off. I found myself cheering as though it were a sporting event.
The story takes us all over the
world. There are plots and dangerous intrigues in France, great beauty in
India, fascinating characters in Mexico. There is a genuine goodness, a life
affirming spirit that permeates this splendid novel.
